Pastoral Family
Purpose Church is a church plant with a heart for Richmond, CA and surrounding cities. On behalf of Purpose Church, it’s an honor to welcome you to our church family. Our names are William and Jocelyn Mendoza, founders and lead pastors at Purpose. Purpose Church is an Assemblies of God church and we are credentialed ministers with the Assemblies of God. As pastors, we have a heart to serve the community and sharing the gospel through purposeful action. We love to empower, disciple, and equip believers to live out their God given purpose. As public school educators, we know the importance and impact that teaching can have on anyone, especially when it comes to the gospel of Jesus Christ. Our hope is to bring Christ to all parts that God has called us to.
Our Story
Both Pastors attended LABI College. Pastor Will graduated from Vanguard University and Fuller Theological Seminary. Pastor Jocelyn is an Azusa Pacific University Alumni. We got married in 2022 and church planted in May 2025.
Our Community
Our community is as diverse as the city we call home. We serve people from different backgrounds and journeys.
Our Hope
We long to see our city fall in love with Christ and experience the fullness of the Kingdom of God in our families.
